About course

The population health care issues have always been extremely relevant. In that regard, students of all medical institutes have the course of "Hygiene and Ecology" among the disciplines mandatory to study, since knowledge of hygiene is an important part in formation of professional thinking and practical activities of doctors of various specialties.

Tasks and goals: The course "Hygiene and Ecology" includes studies in theoretical issues of hygiene and ecology as sciences (terms, laws, methods, principles of hygienic rationing, theoretical foundations of preventive measures) and the development of practical skills regarding diseases` prevention of infectious and non-infectious origin. In the process of studying the course of "Hygiene and Ecology," students receive up-to-date information on: the impact of environmental factors on the health of different population groups; the prevention basics for communicable and non-communicable diseases; the fundamentals of keeping a healthy lifestyle; the principles of rational nutrition (its quantitative and qualitative impact, compliance with the nutritional regime, correspondence of products quality to save and promotion of health, preventive, therapeutic, dietary and therapeutic-preventive nutrition and their basic principles); measures to prevent the occurrence and spreading of infectious diseases with an alimentary, bio- and geogelminthosis, food poisoning mechanism of transmission.
